Oliver's Progress 30.7.14
After two weeks having intensive veterinary care Oliver was brought back to Flicka to convalesce. Oliver has made enormous progress physically and mentally, although initially he was still very thin he has slowly been gaining weight and getting a beautiful shine to his coat. You can see the pictures below from when he first arrived at the veterinary hospital.
The pictures above after a couple of months at Flicka, isn't he handsome? He has made a remarkable recovery and has such a lovely nature, though goodness knows why after his previous life. Oliver does have a slight issue with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder) this has happened probably due to the very old hay that had been left in his cage, it has improved, although we just need to make sure he does not have dry hay to aggravate the condition.

UPDATE FOR OLIVER
We have learned that Oliver, following dozens of calls of complaint, was seized by the RSPCA and police in the area......unbelievably, despite the disapproval of the police he was returned to his cage the following day. He was kept in this area illegally, but despite this and his condition he was allowed to remain there.
We are very pleased and relieved to report that Oliver has been removed with the invaluable help of a Flicka representative in the area and has now been transported to a veterinary hospital.
On arrival he was weighed at just 400 kg instead of 700 kg, he is anaemic, has low creatinine levels due to starvation, high white blood cell count from inflammation and infection, he has a ‘flu virus and a heart murmur. This along with his emaciated condition with worms and lice is making him a very poorly boy. He is progressing and improving each day. We will post further updates here over the coming weeks.

Please help Us To Free Oliver From His Cage
Oliver has been in his makeshift cage beside a railway track for at least three months, locked into a disused storage area he has nothing to eat, he repeatedly tries to climb into a ditch to get water, he is starving with umpteen health issues and despite 30 calls a month to the authorities, mostly from train passengers, he still languishes in misery.
If you would like to donate to Oliver please use the donate button on any of the pages and state 'OLIVER' - if you would also out your name and post code we will use this for a petition to British Rail and the RSPCA to ensure no animals, like Oliver, are incarcerated in BR disused lock-up areas and other unsuitable areas beside railway tracks around the UK, it is dangerous and cruel.

2.4.14 This is Tiger Lily she is only 13 years old – she needs your help.
Lily and her friend Herbie were abandoned when their owner tragically died. Forgotten about for almost a year until a very kind lady noticed their plight and contacted Flicka.
With just less than 30 minutes from euthanasia - we brought them both to the sanctuary – Tiger Lily is a beautiful big part Cleveland Bay x Thoroughbred. Unfortunately she needs life saving veterinary treatment at Penmellyn hospital – where she will need to stay for at least ten days at a cost of £1200.00 or more to give her a chance of a life of quality.
Please will you help us to help her. You can donate online via the PayPal button on the Flicka Foundation web site and just
