As well as providing sanctuary to donkeys and horses rescued from situations of abuse, neglect and abandonment, we are proud to be involved with our local community. Members of the public are welcome to visit to experience a working sanctuary year-round and we also offer Educational Visits and Donkey Therapy sessions.
We welcome groups or individuals of all ages, from all walks of life, to our sanctuary; including disabled people, wheelchair users and people with mental health conditions, as well as people who are disadvantaged, terminally ill or recuperating from illness.

Therapeutic interaction with donkeys can improve a person's physical and/or psychological well-being , as well as help them develop important, transferable life skills, such as confidence building, learning empathy and managing complex emotions. Donkeys are emotionally intelligent, sensitive creatures and their affection is boundless. They really come into their own when interacting with humans and have an amazing effect of making people feel relaxed and at ease with the world, leading to a mutually beneficial, empathetic relationship between both participants.
Hosting learning-based visits for students of all ages forms an important educational outreach aspect of our charity's work. Spending time with donkeys teaches people to understand that they are sentient beings, which, in turn, fosters a positive, caring attitude towards animals. We also offer Donkey Experience and Donkey Care days for members of the public who want to learn more about caring for donkeys.
These visits also offer our donkeys an interesting, enriching opportunity to connect with new people, which keeps them physically and psychologically active and stimulated!
