Lettuce
Lettuce was born sometime around the late 1980’s and arrived at Freshfields Donkey Sanctuary before their closure, along with her bonded friend, Harry, from ‘Leek’.
Animal welfare had informed the sanctuary about them. Poor Lettuce & Harry had been left in a paddock with no shelter in the middle of winter when temperatures were 12 below freezing.
Lettuce is very quiet, and does tend to get rather plump! At the sanctuary, she enjoys the freedom to spend her days as she chooses; grazing in the paddocks, relaxing in the sunshine or socialising and pottering around the cosy donkey barn when the weather
is colder.
