Toby
Toby's Mum Bluebelle was a beautiful donkey who arrived at Flicka in October 2010 with a very pretty foal at foot, Violet. Both very frightened, and in appalling condition, as their rehabilitation and specialist health care started it did not take long to realise that Bluebelle was expecting again!
We took Bluebelle and her daughter Violet into a separate stable, with the intention of moving Bluebelle when there were ‘signs’ – but she beat us to it and ‘Toby’ was born at around 7.00am – 7.30am on Wednesday 29th June. After vigilantly checking Bluebelle around the clock for a couple of weeks she still managed to have her boy in ‘secret’.
Poor Violet was still with her Mum when her brother was born, we did have to move her when Toby was a little confused who to suckle from! It goes without saying Toby was a beautiful baby and Bluebelle was such a special Mum.
Toby has grown in to a very handsome affectionate boy, loved by everyone, and bonded very closely with Jeremy.
