Winter Care Appeal

It’s that time of year again when we find ourselves desperately trying to raise funds to get us through the winter…

The cold winter months are the most expensive for our charity. W
hen the grass stops growing, the fields become bare of nourishment and all of our donkeys and horses have to be provided with extra feed; our hay and straw costs alone exceed £40,000 per year. Special equine feeds, supplements & medications are also vital in keeping many of our donkeys and horses well-fed and comfortable.

Please help us keep our elderly and special needs residents safe, happy and healthy this winter

Because she was in such poor condition on arrival, Sophia needs extra, high-calorie feeds packed with vitamins and minerals to ensure she can produce enough milk for baby Archie. Others, like Minstrel, have ongoing dental issues, which require carefully managed feeding regimes and some need expensive medications and supplements, like our dear Fabrice who has been very unwell.

Our current weekly costs for straw, haylage, special feed and vital medications and supplements now exceeds £1,400.
This doesn’t even include any additional veterinary care or farrier visit costs... not to mention
site maintenance and general running costs or the 25kg of carrots, packets of ginger-nut biscuits and loaves of bread the donkeys munch their way through!

We urgently need to raise the funds to get us through another very expensive winter.

PLEASE DONATE to help us raise the funds to keep Sophia, Minstrel, Fabrice and their friends warm, well-fed and comfortable.
