Horace

Horace found his way to Flicka from the east of the UK, over 300 miles away. When he was brought to our centre he required considerable veterinary treatment. Born in the 1970’s, his grand age gave us cause for concern when we knew he had to have extensive dental treatment. There was also a suspicious lump under his eye causing infection in the eye. The vet was initially worried poor Horace may have a malignant tumour.

Horace had to make the journey to the veterinary hospital for treatment, we knew it was a risk, but without it he would have died. Horace’s teeth were in a very bad way as was the inside of his mouth; he must have been in a huge amount of pain.

Horace came through his surgery really well, the lump under the eye, we were relieved to discover was a deep rooted infection from his teeth. He stayed at the veterinary hospital for just over a week. Once back at Flicka he continued with his medication and a specialist diet.

Horace continues to thrive and has put on lots of weight and now has a lovely shiny coat in the summer and thick woolly coat in the winter. He really is a fighter to have come through such an ordeal at such a grand age!
