Our heartfelt thanks to Sainsbury's staff and customers, and to Suzanne Kelly and Donna Watson, who spent the day chatting to lots of people interested in the Flicka Foundation.

Fund Raising Day at Asda - Saturday 28th July
We raised a fantastic £571.46 when we took Lonely & Primrose to meet the customers and staff at Asda, Penryn on a lovely sunny day. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to a very successful day, including Steve (Asda manager) Bernadette and Rachel of Asda for allowing us to spend the day in the huge trolley park area. A huge thank you to our own team of volunteers, Jess, Donna, Chloe, Alex, Sophie, Naomi and Seb.
Of course an extra big big thank you to 'Lonely & Primrose' for their time, standing on ceremony and behaving impeccably when we know they would rather have been out in the paddock with Marybelle and Jasper!!
Not only did we have our day at Asda, but 'Flicka' won the token count and has been awarded a £200 cheque from Asda - thank you very much to everyone who voted!!

TAMMY GIVES BIRTH 3.30 pm 12.4.12
Isn't she gorgeous?? A Beautiful Mum and Daughter.
Mum is very proud and exceptionally protective, probably due to having every previous foal she has had taken away from her.....not this one, they will be together for life.
Jewel Gives Birth Today 14.4.12 at 11.45 am - another beautiful little girl.
The birth was a little more difficult for Jewel, possibly as it was her first foal, after keeping vigil we sought 'over the phone' advice from our vet and gave her a very minimal helping hand.
TABITHA GIVES BIRTH TO A GIRL TODAY 26.4.12 AT 7.00 AM
It was a slightly longer and tiring birth for Tabitha, after waiting on the sidelines we had to help a little as baby was in danger of not getting air into her lungs. Happy to say Mum and baby are very well. As you can see from the photo she has a rather distorted right ear, this may or may not come right in the days and weeks to follow. Whatever......she's perfect, her Mum adores her, and so do we!!
We are hopeful now that Tabitha's overall condition will start to improve - she has been looking very underweight, not helped by the fact she has been carrying a foal.

Jasper Arrives at Flicka 19.12.11
Jasper a dear sweet little donkey has been rescued by The Donkey Sanctuary, deciding he was not fit enough to make the longer journey to Devon he has come to 'Flicka' for some rehabilitation.
Here he is arriving in the back of a huge 7.5 tonne lorry, led out by Robbie. Robbie has worked at The Donkey Sanctuary for over twenty years, travelled thousands of miles rescuing donkeys with the late Dr Elizabeth Svendsen. He is affectionately nick named 'Grizzly Adams'.
Jasper has settled in straight away - he is an exquisite little donkey and, despite the life of hardship, loves company and people. We will keep you updated.

Tom 1977 - 2011
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart to tell you we lost our beautiful 'Tom' at 11.45pm 24.12.11.
Thank you Tom for sharing your life with us and bringing us years of joy, pleasure and love. You will be sorely missed every day xxx
Ben 1975 - 2012
We are so sorry to have to tell you that we lost our lovely little chap Ben this morning 8.1.12 at 9.30 am.
After three vet visits and doing all we possibly could, it would seem that Ben may have had a stomach tumour. It was a privilege to have Ben here, another favourite who will be sadly missed.
Two of 'Flicka's' great characters left withing two weeks of each other.
God Bless Tom & Ben xxx

JEWEL
It would now seem 'extremely' likely that Jewel and Tammy are expecting, Jewel is almost a baby herself.
There is also a possibility that Tabitha is pregnant too, but we are not sure yet. These three girls were in very poor condition, there is a long way to go with them, still timid and now carrying foals is not helping their condition improve as quickly as we would like. Tabitha & Tammy are still quite lame from previous overgrown feet, left to be a chronic problem, they are now suffering the effects of long term neglect and brutal trimming procedures.
So we are now on 24 hour midwifery duties!!!
