The Flicka Gang

Natalie Stephens

My name is Natalie Stephens, I've been working at the Flicka Foundation since 2008.

The Flicka Foundation is a very giving charity that takes in old, ailing and distressed horses and donkeys. Here they can all live in peace under the care of Laurie and Judy. Some can even learn to trust humans again after a lot of time and patience.

'Flicka' has also helped me a lot in my own experience working with horses. I have been around horses all my life, but working at Flicka, under the instruction of Laurie and Judy, has improved my riding and my knowledge of the equine industry has expanded. I am now aspiring to be a riding instructor.

Val & Mike Carpenter

We joined the team of volunteers in May 2009, this is a place you would have to visit to appreciate the loving care that has made the Flicka Foundation a very special place.

Judy and Laurie have both dedicated their lives to relieve the suffering of many traumatised animals now lucky enough to be in their care. Often this is at the expense of their own health.

We find it so rewarding to see these wonderful animals respond to the bountiful love showered upon them by the whole team, a very humbling experience. It was a very lucky day for us when we were guided to the Flicka Foundation, thank you Judy and Laurie.

I have been with the Flicka Foundation since 2005 when I started helping at the weekend and I have never looked back.

I admire the work both Laurie and Judy do. Helping with the work here at the charity inspired me to pursue a career with horses, I am currently training at 'Flicka' to take the British Horse Society Stage exams, I have now successfully passed Stage I.

I am thankful for the opportunity to get hands on experience and learn with such lovely animals.

Seb Yeomans

Hi my name is Seb Yeomans, I am 21 years old and I have been volunteering at The Flicka Foundation for 3 years and it has been amazing and thoroughly enjoyable!

The animals are lovely and are well cared for. I am passionate about working within the Flicka Foundation as it welcomes all horses, donkeys and ponies who were neglected or unwanted previously and I just love to be involved in ensuring they get better and receive the love and care they deserve.

When we receive new animals it really upsets me deeply when I hear the stories about their previous homes and how unkindly they were treated.

Ashley Dale

Picture
My name is Ashley Dale and I have been a volunteer for the Flicka Foundation for over a year now. It is essentially my Work Experience linked to the Animal Management course that I am currently taking at College, even so, in less than 2 months Flicka became more than just a work placement. I am so attached to each individual animal and the people involved who make it such a rewarding place to be a part of. It is so satisfying to work for an organisation such as Flicka who rescue animals that have been neglected and abused by the worst of humans to then be rehabilitated by the best of us.
There are not many Charities that are as willing to give up everything for the sake of animal welfare like The Flicka Foundation.

I admire everything that Judy and Laurie are trying to achieve and the hardships that they face everyday. They are a true inspiration to anyone who loves animals and I am honoured to be a part of it.
