Quincey
The Sadness of Quincy……………..
A gentleman who was trying very hard to rehome his mother’s horse Quincy contacted us in April 2010. Quincy's elderly owner became very ill five years ago and he was left in the care of some good friends, an elderly couple, who kept him, and another pony together, on their land in a very remote part of Cornwall. Unfortunately Quincy's pony companion suffered a bad accident when he fell and broke his leg, this has left him completely alone for four years, without even being able to see any animals of any description. Now Quincy's carers have also found themselves victims of ill health, so will be leaving their property, which is too big and remote for them.
We went to visit Quincy; no-one was at home so we found him in one of the fields tucked up along a hedge on a very cold day.
He was very pleased to see us, so much so that it was hard to leave him, he followed us back to the gate and lane, obviously an elderly chap as he was rather stiff, but very friendly and loved the company. We collected Quincy the following week, taking him away was quite emotional, his beloved 'foster' parents were very sad to see him go, they stood at the gate waving till we were out of site.
He loaded quietly, travelled very well and arrived with no problems at all. He was a little bemused, but we put him out in the field with Nonny (who loved him) Lettie (our two special lovely beautiful ladies no longer with us), Cara, Jacob, Tom and Ben.
It was if Quincy had always been here, he has fitted in so well with our group of oldies, he really is a lovely boy and so soft. No wonder Nonny loved him.......
