Jeremy
Assuming that we were beyond the length of time for any more babies - Matilda and Ruby were showing no clinical signs whatsoever, we let our guard down and thought that was it…….until…….Friday 22nd July when at 8.15pm we were alerted by Matilda braying loudly and continuously. On investigation found Ruby giving birth!!
‘Jeremy’ foal, unlike Toby was very frail and small; Ruby was not quite ‘right’ and obviously uncomfortable. We called the vet……who was quite in awe of seeing such a new-born. Ruby was given some Buscopan and painkillers, post birth equines can suffer with varying degrees of colic. Jeremy, although not very robust was fine. Several hours later, both mum and baby were positively blooming!
Jeremy is growing rapidly into a very handsome, friendly and extremely naughty little donkey - he has no fear and likes to sit on any available laps and also rolls over to have his tummy tickled. We're not sure if he is really a donkey!!!!
